My one and only political post

Ok, so here it is, I've debated back and forth about making this post but I've decided the time for fear of offending others has passed there are too many other things of far greater value and meaning at stake in the coming week.  So rather than forward you all endless emails with relevant links I'm combining them all here.  I make only 2 requests.  First, find out about the candidates and issues.  You should NOT vote if you don't know what you are voting for.  Second, please VOTE.  Take the time, make the effort, people fight and die for this right every day.  Don't take it for granted.

The things I value:
Prop 8 (for those not in CA this is the prop amending the CA constitution to have the definition of marriage include that of same-sex couples).  Redefining marriage to include homosexual couples is wrong.  Plain and simple it's wrong.  If you think it's right please feel free to share and also please check out the following:

Barack Obama
Don't misunderstand I have no great love for John McCain, Sarah Palin absolutely, but not McCain.  Barack Obama is an evil man.  He wants to trample the things this country was built upon and the symbols that represent it.  He does not value the constitution, the flag or the anthem.  He wants to socialize this country.  He preaches Marxism.  He associates with not one, not two but many, many people who HATE this country.

It is amazing that two people who believe in the same gospel have such different views of Obama. He loves our country as much as you or me, he is not evil, but the best leader for this country. It is one thing not to agree with one's politics but to spread untruths is another. He is not a marxist or socialist or a muslim. I guess fear rules the day.

I respect your passion for you candidate and hope you will be willing to offer me the same respect. While you may find Obama's desire to "spread the wealth" which are his direct words appealing, I find them as an attempt to undermine capitalism and put our country on the road to a Marxist & socialized system. I do not know if Obama is a muslim or not, I am simply asking readers to view the interview where Obama made that statement, if it was a misstep on his part I feel that is for each person to decide. As far a socialism, members of his own campaign and those who have interviewed them have stated that Obama's health care is a socialized medical system
A brief description of socialism as quoted from wikipedia is "socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved". While you may feel that Obama's views and ideology represent something else I struggle to see how they differ significantly enough to classify them in a different arena. I appreciate your comment and feel that discussions such as this are exactly what we need. People should feel passionately, and I think they only way to share ideas is in a respectful and honest manner, so thank you for your comment!

Hey Emily,

Your thoughts on Prop 8 confuse me, Prop 8 is to define marriage between a man and woman only in the constitution. The definition was already unjustly changed by activist judges. Thus to the need to change the constitution.

Sorry, what I wrote is confusing huh? I'm 100% in favor on prop 8. What I meant to say is that defining marriage as anything that includes same sex couples is wrong. Sorry for the confusion!

Emily is one hundred percent correct on Obama. It takes only a cursory review of his past and present statements to see that he holds in disdain virtually all of the founding principles that make this country great. Hi recently "discovered" audio interview from 2001 is a clear example--in it he speaks of how we need a new Bill of Rights, as our original Bill of Rights is a "Bill of Negative Rights". He goes on to lament how the unfortunate it is that our founding fathers left so little power to the federal government. the man scares me. He is, underneath the smooth exterior and velvety speechmaking, an unrequited, unreconstructed socialist.
